On the Anniversary of the 7th October, PGFTU organized and implemented series of activities to celebrate the international day of Decent Work.

First of demonstration of hundreds of works in Qalqilya took place, marched from PGFTU office to the nearest spot of the separation apartheid wall which affected the life and the living continuous of all population in this area and caused a mass unemployment in the area due to the military obstacles used against people.

Thousands of Workers who used to work in the green line, either or without permissions were forced not to work so they joined the army of unemployment people.

Many private investment had been closed because the wall make it difficult for people to reach the worksites or their farms.

Demonstrators demanded end of the occupation as a step to establish the Palestinian independent state which will enable the workers to live decent life and to create condition to decent work based on social justice and enjoying better condition at work sites.

Mean while and on 12’Oclock there was a workshop about “Decent work“ attended by tens of workers.

The subject was discussed in many fields. It took the historical concept of the decent work, obstacles justifications, definition, situation in the

Palestinian occupied territories and what PGFTU on a representative of hundred of thousands of workers who need social protection and ensuring better condition for workers away from all sorts of discrimination. The participants took various of recommendation in this day such as: 1-Necessity of implementing social security system for workers. 2-Implemnting minimum wage. 3-Enhancing social dialogue 4-Developing Gender practices.

The participants emphasized that the military occupation is a major cause for all the difficulties and miseries of the Palestinian workers, checkpoints, separation wall destroying the infrastructure, killing and arresting people and causing high percentage of Unemployment and mass poverty

The current situation due to the above mentioned reasons will not facilitate implementing the principals of decent work..
