The Histadrut is preparing several activities for WDDW:
1. Na’amat, the Histadrut women’s organization, will be posting a blog on their website (www.naamat.org.il) for WDDW in mid October. The blog will focus on many important issues such as maintaining a balance between work and family life, women’s rights in the labor market, and on networking for women’s empowerment.
2. "Hanoa’r Haoved Ve Halomed", the Histadrut youth movement, will be holding a campaign focusing on youth workers’ rights throughout the country in the month of October on the occasion of WDDW. They will be distributing posters in high schools, in social and sports groups, outlining the rights of youth workers. The posters (please find below the link of the website where the posters are posted) will cover the following topics: A). Minimum wage B). Studies and Apprenticeships C). Tips D). Preparation days and work meetings E). Fines F). Be aware who you are working for G). Working on Saturdays H). Vacation days I). Most important to note J). Convalescence pay K). Overtime L). Compensation for dismissal
3. An Executive Committee meeting will be held during the month of October (since from October 7-12 we are on leave, celebrating Succoth-a Jewish Holiday) which will focus on decent work in Israel and throughout the world. The executive Committee members will emphasize the right to collective bargaining, a good faith bargaining system that can deliver both fair wages and good working conditions. In addition, they will call on the government to absorb sub-contract workers in the private and public sectors and will emphasize the right of the unorganized workers to unionize.
4. A press release will be distributed during the month of October from Histadrut Chairman Ofer Eini discussing the WDDW, from both a national and global perspective.
