Decent Work, Decent Life – a campaign to ensure all people, benefit equally from the process of globalizations

Every person on earth should be able to have a job that enables them to live a good life in which their basic needs are met. Employment is a crucial factor for achieving this. The millions of women, men, young people and migrants who work or are looking for a job need governments that take adequate measures to: ensure that social protection and workers rights are respected in labor laws, productive employment development, creating meaningful jobs for women and men, not just any jobs but decent jobs for everybody.

The vice President of The Union of Independent trade unions of Kosova, Hasan Abazi has held a meeting by prepared materials for representatives of regional offices of Mitrovica, Ferizaj, Gjilan, Prizren, Peje and Gjakova for discussing and delivering duty about this campaign.

The Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosova, has held a Press Conference in Grand Hotel, Pristina on 7.10.2009 in honor of the International Labor Day of dignity. In this conference took part: President Mr.Haxhi Arifi, Vice President Mr.Hasan Abazi, Press Information Officer Mrs. Fatma Rastelica, Print and TV Media.

Even this year, has found many shortcomings in Kosovo with the field of labor and employment, as well as more drastic violation of the rights of workers. “Work in uncertain security condition and the lack of legislation to directly affect the majority of Kosovars” said the President Mr. Haxi Arifi, on this conference.

Decent work is a key part of the solution to the global crisis. It means ensuring job creation, and protection of workers rights, especially the right to organize a trade union and bargain collectively. It means ending discrimination, child labor and forced labor, and it means providing social safety nets for those who are out of work.

“This day is also one more reason to join this union mobilization at the global level customer uncertainty at work”, emphasized president. International confederations as ITUC and ETUC mark as unsafe work date, as global crisis that has hit the whole world and Kosovo also.

This day, has special significance and need to remember and continue with work and organizations to improve working conditions and creation of new jobs during the whole year, continued President Arifi.
